Move On 03:02
And I know the weight of how it's been There's been things said that shouldn't have been Gilded arms around you, my evergreen Yeah I know what you expect from me Good morning I’m sorry For the way that I was before Sometimes I don’t think at all Can we move on Now I bring the lines of apologies Can't you see my hands are shaking And it's almost light and I haven't put right The mess that I made Like a phrase that stays unspoken Good morning I’m sorry For the way that I was before What I said was so unfair I know that it’s too much Sometimes I don’t think at all Can we move on

All Over 03:23
Oh my body speaks Tells me when to breathe I see in slow motion Stood before the flames Memories erased Am I losing focus All the pieces of me Ripped apart at the seam Nothing left but a feeling It’s all over before we know it The light moves closer Cannot slow it down When courage disappears We learn to face our fear We still remember when it’s all over When it’s all over Before the moment breaks And colours start to change I’ll count every second I’ll try to contemplate Did I make mistakes Will I find forgiveness All the pieces of me Ripped apart at the seam Nothing left but a feeling It’s all over before we know it The light moves closer Cannot slow it down When courage disappears We learn to face our fear We still remember when it’s all over When it’s all over When it’s all over When it’s all over

I don’t want to go out tonight Oh my bones are tired I’m not looking for a fight You don’t want to stay home tonight Is your mind on the outside She said shall we go where all the people dance I said I’d rather go somewhere quieter than that Some street after midnight Some street after midnight Somewhere I get lost by the third bar Oh the room was spun I don’t know where you are And I’m gold in the streetlight Take me to the next part She said shall we go where all the people dance I said I’d rather go somewhere quieter than that Some street after midnight Some street after midnight She said shall I call a cab and take us home I said I’d rather go somewhere else and be alone Some street after midnight Some street after midnight Somewhere Tell me why are we out so late Rain’s coming down in waves I’d do anything to be by your side She said shall we go where all the people dance I said I’d rather go somewhere quieter than that Some street after midnight Some street after midnight Somewhere

Shed a skin, let it fall down Cos I’m not sure who I’m supposed to be Told a lie, caused another fight Can we erase our whole bad history Oh my heart Oh my head Full of you now and what you said On my skin In my breath It’s not over, not over, not over If I’m just lost in your light Turn it out so I can see who I would be without you If I stumble out in the night I don’t know what’s left or right But I know who I could be without you Let’s learn to see in the dark Let’s learn to see in the dark Tread a line, let me fall down Can we blame this on our old chemistry Speak the truth, let it pour out Still can’t change the way you think of me Oh my head Oh my heart Full of you now and what you are On my skin In my breath It’s not over, not over, not over If I’m just lost in your light Turn it out so I can see who I would be without you If I stumble out in the night I don’t know what’s left or right But I know who I could be without you Let’s learn to see in the dark Let’s learn to see in the dark Let’s learn to see in the dark Let’s learn to see in the dark

Anchor 03:18
People say time is cruel They get so scared it’s gone too soon I’ll be here in the ‘now’ When you’re with me time slows down Through it all I’ll be next to you If you fall I’ll be falling too Doors will close and open again Everything changes, nothing stays the same If you let go, I’ll hold on to you I’m your anchor There’s parts of me in parts of you In your voice and words you use If you’re lost, all at sea Cast adrift, think of me Through it all I’ll be next to you If you fall I’ll be falling too Doors will close and open again Everything changes, nothing stays the same If you let go, I’ll hold on to you I’m your anchor

Salt 03:08
Oh my body speaks Tells me when to breathe I see in slow motion Stood before the flames Memories erased Am I losing focus Now we must keep on going Road gets thin we keep moving I smell salt I see fire We’re almost there Standing with you on the beach I see the miles of endless sea And you and me on the edge of it all Moon goes gold we keep swimming Rain comes cold we keep walking I smell salt I see fire everywhere We’re almost there Standing with you on the beach I see the miles of empty sea And you and me on the edge of it all Standing with you in this light I feel the pull of the dark night And you and me on the edge of it all Standing with you on the beach I see the miles of empty sea And you and me on the edge of it all

How did we get here Caught in the samphire Lost in the spindrift The further out we go And you know where we are when we're lost And you know we'll be safe when you're gone And my heart was open wide to everything And my heart was open wide to everything We tried Fade into silver Cold set deep in bones Dark shapes on water Beneath the hailing stones And you know where we are when we're lost And you know we'll be safe when you're gone And my heart was open wide to everything And my heart was open wide to everything Feet first we fall Feet first we fall And my heart was open wide to everything And my heart was open wide to everything And my heart was open wide to everything And my heart was open wide to everything

Avenues 03:13
Holding steady, done my best Hand me the keys and I’ll pack up the rest While you build up to leave Hold fire, don’t forget me I shout to your back Avenues, where we knew what we wanted And how we could be Songs and letters that we’ve shared Doesn’t mean shit if it don’t make you cry Absolution, hallelujah! Hold my drink darling I’m just getting started Oh but please don’t go Avenues, where we knew what we wanted And how we could be Avenues, now I lose the one thing that I had Please don’t leave Heaven knows where I go now Avenues, where we knew what we wanted And how we could be Avenues, now I lose the one thing that I had Please don’t leave Just say the one thing that I could still do for you I run down all the streets and the avenues Where the leaves seem to spell out your name Scattered then gathered then scattered again All the pieces of me Ripped apart at the seam Nothing left but a feeling It’s all over before we know it The light moves closer Cannot slow it down When courage disappears We learn to face our fear We still remember when it’s all over When it’s all over Before the moment breaks And colours start to change I’ll count every second I’ll try to contemplate Did I make mistakes Will I find forgiveness All the pieces of me Ripped apart at the seam Nothing left but a feeling It’s all over before we know it The light moves closer Cannot slow it down When courage disappears We learn to face our fear We still remember when it’s all over When it’s all over When it’s all over When it’s all over

I’m standing on the edge And I can see myself falling to the ground That little voice gets louder And I cannot seem to quieten it back down Slow motion, deep breaths I can take another step If you do the same You go that way It’s been a long road here But look at all that we’ve done Yeah it’s long way down But don’t forget how far we’ve come I’m standing on a bridge And I can the river rushing down below And if I leap or if don’t I’m not sure that I could still let go Slow motion, deep breaths I’m not sure if I’m quite there If you keep me safe Then I’ll do the same It’s a long road here But look at all that we’ve done Yeah it’s long way down But don’t forget how far we’ve come

Wander out into a silence The lights keep going out Hours and seconds float like leaves now Onto the folded ground Onto the folded ground Falling, falling into a deep sleep Til you wake and it’s all change See the morning turn to silver Then watch it turn again I got lost inside a murmur The sound of rain and passing cars Stars and planes pass over quickly The siren calls the heart The siren calls the heart Falling, falling into a deep sleep Til you wake and it’s all change See the morning turn to silver Then watch it turn again Let the ink black night suspend you Get lost in velvet thoughts All the noises turn to nothing The words you missed are caught The words you missed get caught Falling, falling into a deep sleep Til you wake and it’s all change See the morning turn to silver Then watch it turn again

I am breathing the cold air that’s left And my cheek is pressed against the floor That is old and dirty evermore As my spirit or whatever starts to flail And the angels in their lab coats stare As my thoughts disperse and turn to air And I’m somewhere up above the scene Who’s going to play me now? Who’s going to play me now? Oh no I can see you in the Village below Now I’m somewhere up beside the sun Where my heart and mind have turned to one And I’m thinking of a hotel before Where the blinds are down against the moon That is drawing lines across the room And I’m somewhere in-between it all Who’s going to play me now? Who’s going to play me now? Oh no Who’s going to play me now? Oh no Now I’m staring at a postcard on the floor That has found a home behind my desk With the books of words and lines of text That I spent a lifetime learning Yet, there is nothing left

Skye 03:35
Now your soul is tired I see it in your eyes And the blinds stay down To hide the city light So if you want to move on You know I'd do the same thing I'll daydream with you If you put your whole life into boxes I'll do the same thing too If you move your whole world up to Skye I'll follow you And the words that fall Slowly from your mouth As they gather speed And burn away our doubt So if you want to move on You know I'd do the same thing I'll daydream with you If you put your whole life into boxes I'll do the same thing too If you move your whole world up to Skye I'll follow you Do you need more stimulation Maybe it's a simulation Do you need more motivation

about

‘Murmurate’ is the first collection of songs to be released in Walters’ own name since ‘Golden Veins’ in 2020. The singer-songwriter explains it is not another “lockdown album”, but rather a reflection of the curious period that followed. Shifting from piano ballads, folk/pop poetry to a longing romantic duet (Lydia Oliver), ‘Murmurate’ often ruminates on the need for real-world relationships and the meaningful connections with those closest to us.
